Summer Update from Our Executive Director!

Dear City Ministries Community!

Summer is already here!  As an organization and ministry, we focus on “regrouping,” during July and August which provides an opportunity to look at the previous fiscal year, make improvements, celebrate victories and time for the staff to take well-earned and needed time away from work.

This spring we celebrated foster care awareness month and held our annual social and fundraiser, raising $35,000 at the event with our first ever silent auction and dessert dash. We are grateful to all who attended and sponsored items and our generous donors and guests who were able to attend. Please email me if you have any questions about becoming an event sponsor or want to donate for next year.

An initiative started this year is to increase our individual monthly contributors with the launch of GEMS (GEMS = giving every month any amount). The power of every monthly contribution is amazing – so please consider becoming a GEM beginning from $10/month to any amount you choose. Our goal of 100 GEMs by December 31, 2024! I successfully completed my Doctorate in Ministry from Jakes Divinity School and George Fox University, graduating May 2, 2024. This was a tremendous undertaking, inspired by the journey of City Ministries and our foster care program – which served as a working example to support my research over the last three years. Below is a link to my dissertation.

Take the time this summer to enjoy the small moments that make life special with friends and family. Remember no matter what challenges come life is still worth living and each of us matters.

Have a blessed summer!
