Spring is here! And with the start of spring comes the age-old tradition of spring cleaning. It can feel so great to spend a day decluttering, organizing, and tidying as the sun streams through your windows. But add kids to the mix? Spring cleaning can become more stressful and chaotic than productive. So here are some of our tips on how to get your kids involved with cleaning and make it fun!
- First and foremost, make sure that your kids are easily able to access bins, baskets, and hangers for them to put their things away. If they can’t reach the storage, they will be less likely to participate and help clean.
- Turn putting toys away into shooting hoops! Set out baskets or bins on one side of the room. Have your child stand on the other side of the room and try to toss toys into the “hoop”. Make sure the room is cleared of any breakable items!
- Turn on some upbeat dance music! Create a playlist with some of your child’s favorite songs. The music will make cleaning more enjoyable and they will be able to dance a little in between picking up toys.
- Make cleaning a fun competition! Set a timer and have your kids race to see who can clean up their area the fastest.
- Have a little reward ready for your kids after they finish tidying up! Whether it’s a trip to the ice cream shop or a movie night with mom and dad, they will feel motivated to clean and appreciated once they are done.
