Choosing to become a licensed foster parent is a big decision.  It is a decision that will change and impact all areas of your life.  There are many choices to make when deciding to take this journey.  One of these choices is how you will become licensed, either through the state or through a private agency.  Once you decide to apply through a private agency, there are also many options and choices to make.  It is important to take the time to research your options so that your needs are met and you receive the support you need during your licensing journey. 

City Ministries is a faith-based private agency.  In a nutshell, this means we will prayerfully walk alongside you through the entire licensing process.  You will never feel left alone or wondering what the next steps will be.  Our team will guide you through every single application form, training, home preparation and home study.  We are here to make sure you feel comfortable and supported throughout all three phases of our application process. It is important to know that private agencies are not who issue your foster care license but who are certified to license you through the state.   

Phase I:  

• Informational Meetings 
• City Ministries two-part application  
• City Ministries Executive Director Interview  

Phase II: 

• State Application and Supporting Documents 

• Trainings  

Phase III: 

• Home Study  

Once phase III is completed, your entire file is then submitted to the state.  The state will then work with the private agency in regard to the final licensing of the home.   

Once licensed by the state through City Ministries, our partnership is not complete.  We will continue to help manage your license and make sure you stay in compliance with the state requirements, provide case management for all children in your home, 24/7 access to a City Ministries team member, and continue to pray for you and with you as you walk through this journey.  It is our goal that you never feel alone as you open your home to children in need.
