A Season of Transition: Back to School, Fall, and Hope Ahead

As summer winds down and we step into the fall season, there’s a natural shift all around us. The long, warm days give way to crisp mornings, colorful leaves, and the excitement of a new school year. For many families, this time of year means schedules, routines, and the balancing act of school, work, and family life.

In the midst of these transitions, I encourage each of us to create space in our lives – mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. Whether through moments of quiet reflection, intentional family time, or renewed rhythms at work, fall offers us an opportunity to reset. Even in difficult times, we are not without hope. Our faith reminds us that we are never walking this journey alone, and God’s presence offers strength and encouragement no matter what season we find ourselves in.

At City Ministries, we too are embracing this season with anticipation. We are especially looking forward to our upcoming Golf Tournament at Mill Creek Country Club on October 6, 2025 (click here to register). This special event will bring our community together in support of two vital programs: our City Ministries Foster Care Agency, which provides safe, loving homes for children, and our partner Hope Creek Food Bank, which nourishes families in need.

Looking further ahead, in November we will be hosting an Open House to introduce everyone to our new office space in the Aaron Haskins Community Center, located right at the Rose Hill Cottages. This will be a special opportunity to celebrate what God is building in our community and to connect more deeply with the work being done every day.

And as we enter the season of giving, December is our end-of-year fundraising campaign. We are asking our community to prayerfully consider putting City Ministries on your giving list, helping us reach our total goal of $125,000 for the year. Earlier this spring, in May, we raised $38,000 at our annual fundraiser, and with the golf tournament, and your continued support, we know we can cross the finish line strong.

Your generous donation can be made here.

As we move toward the holidays, may we carry forward gratitude, hope, and generosity. Together, we can make this season one of renewal and impact – for ourselves, our families, and our community.

Happy Fall Everyone,
Dr. Cheryl Haskins
